About
Leitmotif is a venture firm whose sole backer is the Volkswagen Group, which committed $300m to its first fund. It invests broadly in decarbonisation, with a portfolio spanning EVs, batteries, space and nuclear fusion, weighted around 70% to US startups and 30% to the EU. Managing partners Matt Trevithick and Jens Wiese lead the firm, and holdings include the EV truck maker Harbinger.
