Social Capital is a technology investment firm founded in 2011 by Chamath Palihapitiya, a former Facebook executive, and based in Palo Alto. It backs companies in deep tech, life sciences and the energy transition. Since 2018 it has stopped raising outside funds and operates as a holding company on its own capital, with positions including Groq and Palmetto.
