SBIR Phase II is the development stage of the US Small Business Innovation Research programme, continuing research begun in Phase I towards commercial application. Awards typically run for up to two years, with amounts set by each participating agency's funding announcements. Companies usually must complete Phase I before Phase II, though some agencies offer a direct-to-Phase-II route.
