Austin Ventures was a Texas venture and growth equity firm founded in 1984 by John Freidenrich and others, and for decades the largest such firm in the state. It raised about $3.9bn across ten funds and backed more than 250 companies. The firm wound down its venture activity after 2015 as its partners shifted toward buyouts.
