ARIA is a UK research and development funding agency created by Act of Parliament and sponsored by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, formally established in 2023. Modelled in part on the US DARPA, it funds high-risk, high-reward research in areas including robotics, AI, neurotechnology and programmable plants. It has committed at least 1bn pounds over 2025 to 2029.
